Depression
According to The American Psychiatric Association, Depression is a common medical and mental illness that affects how an individual feel, thinks, and functions. Depression can lead to other destructive medical conditions such as obesity, high blood pressure, etc. Symptoms include sadness, loss of interest, changes in appetite, feelings of worthlessness and guilt, suicidal thoughts, difficulty in retaining information, slowed reaction in speech and movement, irregular sleeping patterns, etc. Thankfully depression can be treated through Anti-depressants, psychotherapy, and proper support from peers. However, recent studies show supportive evidence in which exercising can alleviate symptoms of depression and neurologically benefit the individual. Depression does not discriminate and affects everyone of all ages, gender, race, and sexuality.
